Hello everyone, my name is Keisha from @k.moartsy.journals and for more art and journal inspiration you can find me on Instagram and TikTok at that handle.

With summer around the corner, a lot of us have plans for travel and preparation for travel helps to make for a seamless traveling experience. A packing list is a great strategy for several reasons, the first being, that it keeps you organized! The list will help to streamline the sometimes-tedious task of packing and help you avoid things like over packing and not remembering to pack your most essential items.

In this blog I will be sharing what a packing list is, what tools I use to create it, and how I designed the page.

So Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Archer & Olive notebook (choose the size of your preference)
  • Medium of choice (watercolor, colored pencils, and or markers).
  • pencil
  • black fine line pen
  • stickers (optional)

What is an “ Summer Packing list ?

A summer packing list is a curated list of items you plan to take on a summer trip, vacation or outing. It can serve as a guide to ensure that you remember to pack all of your must-haves and essentials for your upcoming trip. Creating this list can help with time efficiency and reducing stress that is sometimes associated with traveling.

Creating a list can also help you stay on budget while traveling, the list can highlight any items you need to purchase before the trip, helping to reduce the chances of having to buy anything extra when you get to your destination.

When creating your packing list it’s important to consider the activities you will be doing and the locations you will be visiting. If you need a little help on how to get started, listed below are some essential items that you could consider adding to your list:

  • Clothing:  This list is for summer travel so if the destination has a warmer climate you may decide to pack lightweight garments such as shorts, tank tops, and swim wear.
  • Footwear: Comfortable sandals or flipflops would be suitable for warmer climates. You may also need to pack a pair of comfortable closed- toe shoes for specific activities.
  • Toiletries: Essential personal care items like insect repellent, sunscreen shampoo, conditioner and hygiene products.
  • Accessories: Items such as sunglasses, hats and beach towels with be ideal for this section.
  • Tech gear: Cell phones, headphones, chargers, camera etc.
  • Health: First aid kit, prescribed or necessary medication, insurance cards etc.
  • Entertainment: e-readers, books, magazines, game systems, or other items to occupy your time during unexpected or expected down times.
  • Travel documents: Driver’s license, passports, travel itinerary etc.

How to design your Summer Packing list:

The design of your list is totally up to you. I’m using a “check off” method and I have chosen to highlight the following:

  • Clothing
  • Toiletries
  • Tech
  • Health
  • Entertainment
  • Travel Documents

I’ve also chosen to add art to my packing list to add a personal touch. Remember, there is no right or wrong way to create your summer packing list, all you truly need is your favorite Archer & Olive notebook and a pen. This method is simply an option for the creator who enjoys adding a little flair to their plans. Essentially, creating a summer packing list can help to ensure that you’re well- prepared for your summer travels as well as giving you peace of mind during your stay!
