Hi everyone, it’s Delphine (@delphinesjournal) from the Archer and Olive (@archerandolive) ambassador team. As you open a fresh bullet journal to get you ready to set the tone for the new year ahead, you might wonder where to start. Don’t worry, because in today’s blog, I’m going to show you five spreads to include at the beginning of your notebook as part of your bullet journal set up!
Supplies
- An Archer & Olive bullet journal
- A fineliner
- A ruler
- A brush pen, like the Calliograph pens
- Stationery accessories, like stickers or washi tape
1. A grid sheet
Every year, I create a grid sheet to act as my personalized cheat sheet. By writing potential divisions of your page, it makes it quicker throughout the year to create a new spread. So let’s say I want to divide my page in thirds, I can simply refer to this page to see that 12 vertical boxes is the way to go, without having to work out the math each time.

However, if you don’t want to spend time creating one, you can download the printable below!
2. Intentions
I’ve been including an intentions page for years at this point, but it’s one that is great to revisit throughout the year to make sure that your actions are still aligned with the words you had written at the beginning of the year. This layout is inspired by Aarti from @leelajournals, and she’s also the one who inspired me to pivot from “goals” to “intentions”. I personally subdivide my intentions in six categories: focus, personal, financial, fitness, fun things and social media, but I always with bullet journaling, feel free to use whatever categories you want!

3. A bucket list or yearly bingo
Creating a bucket list with separate sections for each season allows me to list all of the seasonal activities I intend to do throughout the year.
Another way to achieve a similar goal is to create a yearly bingo, where you can list anything you want to do next year. Here are some ideas I personally wrote for 2025:
- Cook 5 recipes from one of my cookbooks
- Go thrifting with friends
- Go to the movies
- Host a dinner party
- Paint a room in my home
- See a play
- Travel to a new destination
- Try a new workout class

4. Wish & gift lists
This spread is perfect for those of you who never know what to either ask for or give whenever it’s a holiday or a birthday. By writing down the random ideas that pop in your head in this spread, you’ll be reducing last minute and panicked shopping!

5. Things to check out
A “Things to check out” spread is perfect anytime a friend recommends something, or you see a video with a recommendation that you don’t want to forget. You can create a page for new TV shows, restaurants, recipes, movies, books, activities, and more!
