7 Creative Ideas For Your Rainbow Journal And Notepad

by Design Team 30 Sep 2021 0 Comments

Hey guys, Masha here from Masha Plans.

I always love when Archer and Olive release new exciting things, like a blackout book or a kraft journal.

Having a new format and new paper color is always something that pushes my creativity and I really enjoy it.

So of course when they released the rainbow journal, and then the rainbow notepad, I had to give it a try and see what’s up.

I won’t lie it took me some extra to push my fear away and start using those, but when I did - there was no stopping!

That's why today I want to share with you a few ideas on how to use rainbow journal / notepad.

SUPPLIES

Before we dive into the ideas, let’s check the supplies you might want to use for these.

  • Rainbow notepad. These come in A5 and B5 sizes so will be perfect for whatever journal you’re using. They are of course the star of this post.
  • Acrylograph pens. These are paint pens so they can be well seen on paper of any color. Definitely would recommend using them on your rainbow paper.
  • Fineliners . These pens are always the basis of everything I create. My favorites are probably Faber Castell ones.

Remember if you decide to buy anything from Archer and Olive you can get 10% off your order with my code MASHA10. Always appreciate when you support me that way.

DECORATE YOUR BULLET JOURNAL

Of course my first idea is to use the beautiful bright paper to decorate your Bullet Journal.

Using different color paper in your journal really gives it a different feel and so much dimension. It was always like a scrapbook when I used kraft and black paper in February.

So of course when I got my rainbow notepad I knew I had to create a bright happy theme where I could use these pages. I ended up with a boba tea theme, as you see from the image above.

I really enjoyed it and now I’m just regretful I didn’t use enough paper in my weekly setups as well.

LETTERING JOURNAL

Creating beautiful quote pages is in many ways just a matter of practice. So why not use your rainbow journal as a place to experiment with your lettering?!

You must admit creating lettering pieces on colored paper brings a totally different feel to your quotes.

Plus maybe your rainbow journal can just be a place where you collect your positive and inspirational quotes - why not?!

PATTERNS NOTEBOOK

Patterns are so amazing in so many ways.

First of all, drawing patterns is very calming and almost meditative. It really helps you to switch off the world and constant worries and just have a moment for yourself.

Secondly - it’s a good practice if you’re working on your doodling or drawing skills.

Of course I had to think about creating patterns on the colored pages and how different it would look. I was not disappointed.

These are the pages from one of the notepads that came with the Subscription Box, as well as a page from rainbow notepad.

I just really fell in love with how different everything looks on colored pages.

DOODLING JOURNAL

For me there are not enough notebooks for all my doodles. I have my square journal for all the doodles I post on my Instagram or do for blog posts.

But I also have a kraft journal where I just practice my doodles and create pages filled with mini doodles.

(Kraft doodles)

I really just love how differently my doodles look on kraft paper, so I thought of course I had to try and do the same with the rainbow pages.

Of course it did not disappoint me! Plus as always it was a great practice for me.

I try to do a page like that at least once a month and it helps me to slowly but steadily improve my doodling skills.

Definitely would recommend you to do the same! After all, the secret to pretty doodles is practice, practice and more practice.

AFFIRMATIONS

I’ve been doing a lot of things for my mental health and self-care, and one of the practices I found the most impactful was the practice of affirmations.

Everyday I would wake up, take my beautiful pen and write my daily affirmations. This really helps to set the right mood for the day.

That’s why I thought turning your rainbow journal into the place for your addictions can be a wonderful idea!

You can just write down your affirmations, or you might also just create quote pages from your affirmations and simply read them to yourself every day.

BUCKET LIST JOURNAL

I love creating bucket lists! I pretty much create one for each season at least, plus there is always one for Christmas and maybe one for birthdays.

There is never enough!

Bucket list in the rainbow journal compiles the beautiful and unique look of your lettering and of your doodles - perfect match!

Bucket lists are great to make sure you get the most out of life and always think outside of the box. Definitely one of the must-have spreads in your journal!

COLLAGES

Collages are a very fun way to be creative (and a good way to fix your mistakes as well).

I usually collage about different events in my life and my memories, but really collage can be about anything at all.

Rainbow journal makes it look very different and much more fun, wouldn’t you agree? A good memory definitely deserves a collage in a very special way.

Share with us if you decide to use any of these ideas in your journal and tag me @mashaplans and @archerandolive on Instagram, we would love to see your creations.
