Hi everyone, it’s Delphine (@delphinesjournal) from the Archer and Olive (@archerandolive) ambassador team. We all know creativity is not always constant. Some months, you’re filled with ideas, whereas others you’re stuck with a creative block. If you’re feeling uninspired, don’t worry; in today’s blog, I’ll be giving four tips that might help you get unstuck and excited to create again.
Supplies
-
An Archer & Olive bullet journal
-
Any supply you want (this can include a fineliner, brush pens, like the Calliograph pens, themed planning kits and more!)
Lean into seasonal themes
When in doubt, follow the seasons! Honestly, seasonal themes are reliable, can be endlessly reused and actually reflect what’s going on around you.
It’s summer? Think ice cream, desert landscapes, seashells or tropical islands. It’s autumn? Incorporate fallings leaves, cozy sweaters or dive into light academia with vintage books and light beige collages. In winter, try snowflakes and winter wonderland, holiday magic or a dark academia aesthetic. And when spring is slowly arriving, it’s time for flowers, bunnies, garden or picnic themes!

Save posts that inspire you
Whenever you’re browsing through social media, make sure to save the posts that inspire you (you can even create different folders for specific themes or aesthetics). When feeling uninspired, you can look back at the curated bundles and hopefully it sparks a new idea! If you choose to recreate a theme though, don’t forget to tag the creator on social media!

Put your own spin on classic themes
Some themes are bullet journal classics… they’re well known and can be easily adaptable. So if you’re feeling uninspired, put your spin on one of these themes, which I think have made it to the classic status:
-
Coffee or tea
-
Books
-
Plants (trees or house plants)
-
Flowers (sunflowers, cherry blossoms, etc.)
-
Magic
-
Your favourite movie or TV show, ideally with a strong visual identity (Lord of the Rings, Friends, Mean Girls etc.)
-
Desserts (pastries, donuts or cakes)
Even thought you’ve already created one of these themes, you can still reinvent it by changing the color palette or the aesthetic! For example, if you already created a warm coffee theme, try a black-and-white minimalist aesthetic.
