Prompt cards
There is a set of prompt cards I’m finding quite helpful, especially when I don’t know where to begin or don’t really feel like journaling. They are also very helpful to refocus my thoughts from the negative to the positive.
The journal
The journal itself makes me want to write in it. The vegan leather and rich teal color with the gold debossed lotus flowers is elegant and restful. Of course the Archer & Olive dotted paper is the best.
Stamps
The stamps coordinate with the lilies cover, the front interior end pages, and the Washi tape set. I’m finding the stamps more versatile than anticipated and made a title page for my journal.
Gold gel pen
The pen feels luxurious in the hand and adds a special metallic touch to words and drawing.
Making a title page
Using the supplies above, plus a fine liner black pen and colored pencils to color the stamp images, I made the following page to begin my wellness journal.
Washi Tape
There is a lovely set of Washi tape the coordinates perfectly with the lotus journal.
One of the tapes even has four general but personal prompts to encourage positivity. There is even one framed blank prompt space on the tape to write your own. These are especially good when I don’t have the time to use the stamps or find a prompt for the day.
Translating the prompt onto the page
In the photos below (and in the video) I begin my positivity prompt with the stamps: the lotus, “I’M GRATEFUL FOR’, and circle bullet points and the check boxes for the week. I also leave space to write the writing prompt and activity record.
Adding Washi tape and the gold pen is a fast and easy way to beautifully embellish the page.
An example of the prompt cards
"List 3 small things that went well today. How do these small wins or moments of peace contribute to your overall well-being?
Activity: "Each evening for the next week, take 5 minutes to reflect and jot down 3 small things that went well."
After the prompt pages
After the prompt pages and while I am doing the activity for the week, I follow those with diary, free writing for the day/s. I don’t put pressure on myself to write every single day, but I do make it a goal to write at least a couple times per week. I’ve found this helps me be more grounded and work through any issues, and look at the many things I have to be grateful for.
I’ll often just run a line of tape along the edge of the notebook spread to mark the beginning of my free journal writing.
A pocket for the prompts
Looking through the prompts and choosing a few to put in the pocket slot made to fit them helps me streamline the journaling process and always have ideas on hand. You can also put a few prompts in the back pocket of the journal.
I don’t make this particular pocket in this post, but here is a link to another post where I make a similar pocket in the same way with a slit. To make it you will need the additional supplies of a craft knife and a cutting mat.
Here is the link to a post on how to make a similar pocket in your journal.
I’m so glad you stopped by and hope you are inspired!
