Using your Bullet Journal for Feminist and LGBTIQ+ activism

by Guest Blogger 22 Aug 2020 0 Comments

Hi there! It’s Lenny from @lennydoesthings here and today I will talk to you about how I use my bullet journal, and my Instagram account in particular, to address some important issues that cannot be stressed enough, especially during these days.

Being a woman is always a challenge, but the thing in which that I struggled the most during my growth was to truly understand what it really meant. I luckily didn’t experience any serious trauma, but despite this, it took me all my adolescence to aknowledge most of the perception I had about that world was shaped by a society that hates women.

When I was a teenager, I have always been that one girl that despite the love for skirts and nail polish and other typical “girly” stuff, was ready and proud to say “I’m not like the other girls”. I have always felt the need to compete with the other girls, I have always felt the need to please the boys expectations. Only in the last years I live by the motto “women support women”. ALL women.

But I’m a “priviledged” one in a lot of ways. With all the “dark” sides of this concept, the best one for me is that I grew up in an open and educated environmentent, where I learned the most important rule of my life: to be kind and respect others. I’ve been going to the Pride Parade since I was fourteen, and my parents come with me! I sincerely can’t understand why people have that much hate in themselves, but I try my best to spread my intentions and change as many minds as possible.

Through the “art” I create in my bullet journal I manage to spread these messages, to normalize them, to be useful with this tiny part of my life! As my voice was being heard, even in a community that is typically not very “political” centred, I felt the responsability to talk about things that may seem obvious to most of us, but not all of us.
