Hello! I’m Amanda (@amandaswork) and I am here to give you some ideas on how to use your Archer and Olive acrylographs. These acrylic paint markers are so fun and easy to use, and look so vibrant on the page. They are definitely tools that you should add to your art supplies inventory. Here are 10 ways that you can use them in your journals.
Here are the supplies that I will be using:
-
Acrylographs - I am using the Forest Findings and Snow & Stillness sets
-
Any sized journal - I am using the Winter Village A5 Blank journal

Let’s get started!
-
Swatch Page
The first thing you will need to do with your fresh set of acrylographs is activate them. You need to shake and press the marker a couple of times to let the paint seep through the nib. A swatch page is the best way to see how your colors look on the page and allow you to activate your markers.
-
Circles
A circle page is very therapeutic. The repetitive motion of drawing circles can help you to calm down and just have fun. Fill up the page with as many circles and colors as you can!
-
Checkerboard
This is a great way to practice coloring in the lines, and learning how to control your marker. The squares do not need to be the same size, I think they actually look better when they are different! You can tape off the edges too if you want really crisp edges.
-
Doodling
A doodle page is always an entertaining time and a great way to keep your hands busy. These markers are a great tool for doodling all over your notes and journal pages.
-
Blending
While the paint is still wet, use your finger to blend into the page. You can mix colors as well for different results. You can also use a water brush to add extra liquid to the paint to help with blending.
-
Three Marker Scribbles
What’s better than scribbling with a marker? How about scribbling with three! Using more markers can make some interesting lines on the page. Use different combinations of colors to fill up the page! Make sure you use a hard pressure to make sure all the ink from all the markers gets onto the page.
-
Scribble Coloring Page
You can never run out of coloring pages with this idea. Scribble one big picture, make sure you section off a lot of different shapes. Then color them in with all of your colors. The more shapes the better, it will give you so many sections to fill in. Let your creative flow state make your coloring page, it is not that serious!
-
Handwriting
It might seem basic but these markers are really great for handwriting and faux calligraphy. Do not underestimate the use of these in your writing pursuits!
-
Rings
Draw big circles and section them off, then fill them in with your colors! These are a great way to frame drawings or words with some extra details!

-
Flowers
Flowers are great to practice, and with these markers you can get some beautiful colors with them.
Take all of your techniques and put them together to make some awesome pages! Hopefully these pages will make you reach for your paint pens more often! They are such cool pens to use, and will make your art practice so much more entertaining.
