Hello! Valerie Sjodin here, and today I’m going to be sharing how to make a pop-up in your notebook with the help of a few stickers and Washi tape.
I highly recommend the Archer & Olive notebooks. All of the notepads and notebook paper is fantastic! Use this link and Code VALERIE10 to receive 10% OFF your order.

THE PROCESS:
Preparation:
Choose a largish sticker and some Washi tape you want to use for your pop-up.
Measure the width and height size of your sticker. If you want some space around it or if you want to make a frame of Washi tape around it, add that to your measurements.

1. To make a window, door, rectangular or square shape pop up, make a parallelogram cut and fold where the sides of the cut and fold edges across from one another are the same width. Watch the video in this post to better see the process.
In this example I am using a separate piece of paper to cut out the pop-up, but you could also cut out the pop-up and make tabs to glue onto the notebook pages.
To make the pop-up, use a 160 gsm dotted paper, notepad paper or card stock sheet of paper. With a pencil, lightly mark the halfway point at the top and bottom of the long side of the sheet.
If you want the pop-up in the center of your page vertically, measure the height of what you want the pop-up to be, subtract that number from the height of the paper and divide it in two. That number will give you the top and bottom measurements of where you will mark and cut your pop-up edge. Lightly draw the horizontal lines for the top and bottom of the pop-up.
Lightly draw the center lines from the center marks to the edge of the pop-up cutting line.
Cut the horizontal lines with a craft knife.
2. Score the fold lines with a bone folder.
3. Starting with the center folds above and below the pop-up cut and fold lines, fold the center top and bottom score lines.
4. Continue to fold the scored lines in the direction you want the folds to go.

5. Burnish the folds with the bone folder.
6. Open the folded paper and check to see if any adjustments need to be made.
7. If you want to make a Washi tape frame around the top of the pop-up, put strips of tape around the interior of the folds and cut lines of the top of the pop-up.
8. Place your sticker on the top of the pop-up.

9. Place and cut a strip of Washi tape to go on the side of the pop-up.
10. This shows the Washi tapes on the front and side of the pop-up.
11. Fold and Burnish again.
12. Place the pop-up page where you want it in the notebook and lightly mark where opening is on the top, bottom and right side.

13. To include a quote, it's a good idea to practice the spacing on a piece of paper. The paper can be glued down in the journal, or you can write directly on the notebook paper as I've done here.
14. Put glue the part of the right side of the pop-up sheet that is not a part of the pop-up. I have used double faced tape. Then press it into place with the fold in the spine part of the spread. Press and close the book.
15. Open the notebook and put glue on the other side of the pop-up sheet. Close the book and press again. Add Washi tape, more stickers, writing as desired.
16. Additional pop-up and elements can be added. Here I cut a piece from a dotted memo pad and folded it over so I could add more stickers to the page in an interesting way. There are many different ways you could do this.

17. For the pop-up portion, I placed a sticker on another piece of memo paper and folded two tabs on each end that are two squares tall. I could've used one less tab, and it actually would've been better on the lower tab to just have one tab. You may notice that in the video.
18. Place and glue the bee pop-up into the fold of the folded piece of memo paper.
19-20. I decided to keep the long portion of the fold-over sheet and write on it, adding words and stickers.
