Valentine Floral Heart Tutorial
Hello friends, Adrienne from @studio80design here! Valentine's Day is just around the corner so today I'm going to share a tutorial on how to create a valentine floral heart illustration in my NEW Archer and Olive Kraft Paper Dot Grid Notebook! This notebook was just released and it is AMAZING! I'll be showing you some ideas of what you can create in this notebook, so make sure to check back for other tutorials! Let's get started!
Materials you'll need:
- Archer and Olive A5 Kraft Paper Dot Grid Notebook
- Gel Pens--White, Pink & White
Step 1: Sketch
The first step is to lightly sketch a heart in the center of your page in the Kraft Paper Notebook with your pencil. Mine extended the width of the page to make it nice and big!
Step 2: Letter
Next, use the white gel pen to letter in a word in the middle of the heart. I wrote in "love" and then added some weight to the downstroke lines for a faux-calligraphy effect!
Step 3: Draw Vines
Use the pink and purple gel pens to draw vines coming from the beginning and ending of the word. Make sure they extend to the edges of the heart in all directions and vary the colors!
Step 4: Add Florals
Now its time to draw in the flower and leaves to the pink vines! We're going to fill in the entire heart with florals so add a lot!
Step 5: Finish Filling
Finish filling in the florals inside the heart with the purple gel pen. Fill in any empty spaces and you can always go back with the pink gel pen to help fill in any spaces!
Step 6: Add Small Details
Draw in the small details of the leaves and flowers with the pink and purple gel pens. Then use the white gel pen to add small white dots inside the heart to bring shape to the heart! Once all the ink has dried, erase the pencil sketch with your eraser! This is where the magic happens and the full heart comes to life! You're done!
