So Why A Mindful Food Diary?
I have been quite curious about the relationship between my mood, energy levels and the food I eat, but I've never been quite interested in calorie counting or weighing my food etc, so I thought I'd create a food diary to get an idea of this.
What is Mindful Eating?
Mindful eating isn’t about restriction, rules, or perfection. It’s about presence.
It’s the simple act of slowing down enough to really notice — the colors on your plate, the textures, the flavours, and how your body feels before, during, and after a meal.
It’s asking gentle questions like:
“Am I truly hungry, or am I seeking comfort?”
“How does this food make me feel — energized, calm, or heavy?”
“What emotion am I bringing to this meal?”
Mindful eating invites you to reconnect with food as nourishment, not just fuel or numbers. It’s about gratitude — for the ingredients, the people who made the meal possible, and the body that receives it.
When you practice mindful eating, meals become moments of self-awareness and self-care. You begin to notice patterns — not to judge them, but to understand yourself better. Over time, you naturally make choices that align with how you want to feel: calm, nourished, balanced.
What areas will I include in my Mindful Food Diary?
For this project, the areas I'm interested in tracking on the morning side of the notebook are my morning mood, food intentions for the day, and what I eat for breakfast and lunch. On the night side of the page, I'd like to focus on my afternoon and evening intake, along with my evening mood.

I've really loved how this turned out and I am excited to use it this week to document my food and my mood. I am hoping to gain some clarity on how these correlate for me and I am genuinely looking forward to this mindful way of tracking my food.
Daily Wellness Journal Printable
I'm also excited to share this Printable which I will use in the journal to track other elements as well. I believe that movement, fresh air, meditation and so forth can also have a great impact on one's mood and energy levels so I felt like this may be a great way to focus on other wellness elements.
