Geometric Floral Design Using Washi Tape Tutorial
Hello friends, Adrienne from Studio 80 Design here today to share a tutorial on how to create a colorful geometric floral page using washi tape! Washi tape is an awesome tool to use in your dot grid notebook to help you get straight lines in your projects without having to make pencil marks. Let’s get started!
Materials you’ll need:
- Archer and Olive A5 Signature Dot Grid Notebook
- Washi Tape (I used Little B 3mm width)
- Tombow TwinTone Marker Set, 12 Pack Rainbow
Step 1
Cut strips of your washi tape and lay them down on your page. I used a 3mm washi tape, but this will work with any size! I laid down 4 pieces of tape, all crossing in the middle of the paper.
Step 2
You should have eight triangles on your page. I chose eight colors from the Tombow TwinTone Rainbow Marker Set to use for a rainbow palette. Starting with red, I drew a floral design with the broad tip of the marker inside one of the triangles. Then I used the fine tip to add small detail lines for each flower and leaf. Try your best to fill the entire area of the triangle!
Step 3
Continue to the next triangle using the orange marker. Draw another floral vine with flowers and leaves.
Step 4
Make your way through the rest of the triangles, using a different color for each triangle. Don’t forget to add in those small details!
Step 5
After you’ve filled all the triangles, slowly start to peel off the washi tape, being careful not to rip or tear the page, until it’s all off!
You're done! I love how this geometric floral page turned out! The washi tape made it super easy to make the triangles with even lines around the page.
