Bullet journals are such a personal thing. We pour our schedule, thoughts and ideas onto the pages: no two journals are ever alike! I believe this is why recently it became a very popular challenge to create an ‘About Me’ spread. These spreads reveal a bit more about the person behind the journal, and make your bujo even more personal. It is extremely fun to make one, and even more fun to read other peoples!
If you want to make your own, read on to get some ideas of what to include on your spread, and even see some examples of people who have already done it!
- Archer and Olive Journal – The lovely and thick pages has no bleeding or ghosting, so you get a clean start for every spread! Also, it means you can decorate the spread without worrying about it.
- Pencil – To carefully plan out your ideas so you can make sure your spread has everything you need.
- Fineliners – My favourites are the Unipin fineliners as they’re waterproof, affordable and have a strong nib.
- Decorative Touch (optional) – This could be anything from washi to watercolour, or of course, nothing! I usually like to adda personal touch to my spreads so they’re more fun to use and look at.
In February 2019, Nicole, a well-known bullet journalist on Instagram who goes by the handle @plansthatblossom posted her spin on the “Meet The Artist” hashtag. Artists such as painters and crafters previously only used this hashtag. However, Nicole adapted the challenge by creating a bullet journal spread all about her, including likes/dislikes, her favourite things, random facts about her and more.

Whilst Nicole cannot be sure if she was the first bullet journalist to interpret the challenge in this way, she hadn’t seen anyone do it before, and she went on to inspire many more bullet journalist to create their own “Behind The Bujo” and “About Me” spreads.
It was then further popularised by Journaling Your Way, an inclusive challenge account on Instagram (@journalingyourway). They create a new prompt every month for the community to make their own interpretation of the featured spread, and in April 2019 they used Shanise’s (@blackandwhitebullet on Instagram) About Me page.
The challenge inspired over 100 bullet journalists to join in and create their own About Me pages!
What To Include
If you’re anything like me, you really don’t know WHAT to include about yourself in one of these spreads. Therefore, here are some ideas of things to include
The standard facts about you – of course only include the ones you feel comfortable sharing!
- Where you live
- Personality Type
I always find this one difficult, as I don’t know what people will find funny/interesting. But you can start by asking your friends and family what THEY think is a fun fact about you! Here are more ideas:
- Any fears?
- Where do you journal?
- Favourite holiday/season?
- Have a side hustle?
This is always a fun one to include. If you only have a few, this can go in your Random Facts section, but if you have a lot you may need a whole section for them!
This is another interesting one for people to read. Achievements can be anything, from education related to climbing a mountain. What are some things you’ve achieved that you think are impressive?
This is a super popular one, and they’re always fun to read to see what similarities and differences you have with other people. For example, I LOVE marmite, but where would it be on your list…? Here are some examples of the things you can include:
- Tv shows/Movies
If you still need more inspiration, here are some amazing About Me spreads:
Firstly, I really love this simple interpretation by Emma:

Liddy mixed up the layout and really made this her own:

And finally, Barbara always makes the best spreads, and her About Me page is one of my favourites:

Make Your Own
So now it’s time to make you’re own! If you’re not very arty – don’t worry! I have included a free printable in this blog of a blank About Me page:
All you need to do is fill it in! Here’s a talk through of each section:
I left this blank so you can choose what information about yourself you want to include.
I thought it would be fun to include some specific prompts of things you currently like! It could be fun to see how this has changed when you look back at it.
I included blank arrows for you to use them how you like. I personally used these for Random/Fun facts!
For you to draw or stick in a photo of yourself!
You can see about for ideas!
Here’s mine for inspiration:
Hopefully I’ve given you some ideas and inspiration to make your very own About Me page in your journal! And if I have, I would love to see your spreads, so tag me on Instagram (@hayleyremdeart) and use #hayleyremdeinspired to get the chance to get your creations featured in my stories!
