Child Hand Keepsake Project Using Spring Acrylograph Pens

by Guest Blogger 09 May 2021 1 comment

Hi friends, Adrienne from @studio80design here to share a great child hand keepsake project for Mother’s Day coming up! If you have kids, you know those tiny hands grow way too fast! One of my favorite things is to trace my kids hands to remember how small they were. I’ll be using the greens and gold Acrylograph pens from the new spring collections for this project!

Tools you’ll need:

Step 1

The first step is to grab your kiddo and lightly trace their hand onto your mixed media paper with a pencil! This will be your guide for this project!

Step 2

Next, get the two green Acrylograph Pens from the Spring Awakening Collection from the new spring collection. The new colors are absolutely gorgeous and I love that both of the palettes comes with a metallic—gold in the Vernal Collection and silver in the Awakening Collection .

Use the green pens to draw vines within the hand, varying each of the colors.

Step 3

Now it’s time to add the leaves! Start with one color and draw leaves on the vines. Then use the next color to draw leaves onto the vines. I love the .7mm Acrylograph Pens because the tip is small and you can create small details in your work!

Step 4

Continue to drew leaves on the vines, varying each color and making sure to stay within the traced hand! You can always add more vines to areas that need to be filled in more.

Step 5

Once the hand is filled with leaves, grab the gold .7mm Acrylograph Pen from the Spring Vernal Collection and draw small dots in any empty spaces around the hand. This will help fill it out a little more and add some extra color to the design! Wait for everything to dry, and then use the MONO Dust Catch Eraser to erase the hand pencil guide.

Create a keepsake of your child’s precious hand with this tutorial from Adrienne from @studio80design!

And that’s it for this Mother’s Day project tutorial, thanks for following along! I hope you give this a try if you’ve got kids, it’s a great way to remember how small those little hands are!
